If you’re already making plans for the Fourth of July in Fairfax, you’re sure to have a lot of options. There’s always something great going on for Independence Day, whether you’re looking for family-friendly events or something a bit more exciting to do with your group of friends. Here are just a few of the Fourth of July events and activities going on in the Fairfax County area.

An American Celebration at Mount Vernon.  On July 4th, head over to George Washington’s historic Mount Vernon home for the massive annual Fourth of July celebration. There will be a dazzling fireworks display during the daytime over the Potomac River, as well as special military re-enactments throughout the day.

Herndon’s 4th of July Celebration. Head to nearby Herndon for an Independence Day bash starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Herndon Community Center. Enjoy games, bingo and children’s crafts, cover songs performed by local band Guys In Thin Ties and a fireworks show choreographed to live music starting once the sun sets.

4th of July Hometown Celebration and Parade. Great Falls hosts a Fourth of July parade that’s one of the best in the area. Aside from the parade, there will also be a 5K Walk/Run, a blood drive with the Great Falls Volunteer Fire Department, the Little Patriot Parade for children up to age 5 and other food and festivities throughout the day.

City of Fairfax Independence Day Evening Show and Fireworks. For a classic Fourth of July celebration in Fairfax, check out the town’s annual fireworks display at Fairfax High School. Gather with friends and neighbors for a community-wide celebration featuring fireworks, children’s activities, crafts and more.
